Our relationship with Walt
Disney World began in May 1972 with our 1st visit to the Magic
Kingdom. My Wife, infant son and I drove 13 hours in our 1970
VW Bug from Central Indiana in order to see the Magic at
Disney World. We returned three years later in late summer
which was perfect timing as our son was now 4 1/2 years old
and ready for the adventure. After months of attempting to
have another child we had given up and wouldn't you know it
only took the magic of Disney. We returned two years later
with our son and new daughter and stayed inside the park for
the 1st time.Over the years we
have returned many times as our children grew into their teens
and adulthood as well as my wife and her sister have visited
numerous times to Walt Disney World. In 2007 we started
visiting every May to bring our youngest Grand Daughter for
her 4th, 5th and 6th birthdays.
My most memorable experience occurred
3years ago when we brought our Grand Daughter for her 4th
Birthday. She was sitting on my shoulders watching her first
Light Parade. She became so excited she was shaking all over
and exclaimed at the top of her lungs.
" Pa look what they have done just for my Birthday!"
Of course Grandpa will remember this until the day he
dies. Disney's Magic at it's best. Next year we plan to bring
all three little girls when they are 9, 7 and 7 years of age.
I hope I do not forget my medication as I am sure it will be
needed. Walt
Disney World has changed in numerous small ways since they
opened in 1971, many for the good and in our opinion a few
that are not.
Disney
eliminated for the good the E-Tickets and replaced them with
Park Passes - Also for the good, the Cast Members (Employees)
are no longer just young and good looking, they have hired a
cross section of humanity.
Prices of some food and snacks in
our opinion are over priced - for example a small single
serving bag of Cheetos for $2.39 which can be found out side
the park for less than .75 at any convenient market. Although
one expects higher prices for food and goods at amusement
parks, we believe that some of the current pricing structures
would make Walt Disney spin in his grave. (The Dining
Plans take the sting out of purchasing snacks).
My wife and I became Annual Passholders in 2007 and in mid
2009 we decided to enjoy Disney World every month.
We plan to bring the good and the not so
good about our Disney adventures.

**We suggest when planning
your next Disney trip to book your food reservations before
you choose your dining plan. Because if you can not obtain
reservations for the restaurants you like, than you might opt
for the stand up dining plan or none at all. When setting up
every trip we always go back and forth about opting for the
Dining plan. We always end up with left over stand up meals
because we do not get up early enough for breakfast and only
eat a light snack around 3pm to leave room for our usual 7:00
to 8:00pm dinner. December 2008 visit we could not get a
reservation for dinner to save our backsides. Now we schedule
2-3 months in advance and still can't get a dinner reservation
at Epcot's Le Cellier Steak house. It may sound simple,
however we suggest you plan your meals around which parks you
will be in that day. For example we try to dine at the Parks
that have late hours for Resort guests. |
