May 2010 Visit.
We
brought our youngest Granddaughter for her 7th birthday and
our daughter for her 21st+ Birthday celebrations. The usual
rain in the afternoons and nice weather the balance of the
days. For those who do not know - the beginning of May is
Snake breeding time. We opened the door to our room at the
Caribbean and found a couple of big snakes doing their thing
right in front of the door. Considering I have been bitten by
a rattler when I was 7 and a Copper head when I was 26, I have
a snake phobia.
Trading was fun at Epcot - I
would arrive early to set up our Trading book and do a little
trading until Carolyn woke up, did her hair and came to the
Park.
Our Granddaughter Mia was
perfect this trip even though this is the first trip we did
not get a stroller. She walked the whole time without one
complaint, stopped to trade with us and would patiently wait
in line.
Our daughter found out she
was expecting just before we left on this trip. Great news
except she could no longer take Mia on the rides that Grandpa
Ain't doing. Needless to say I ended up on Tower of Terror and
Rock n' Roller coaster. I went on the Tower first with
encouragement from a 7 yr old. The first drop extracted a
squeal of delight from Mia and a string of curse words ( Mild
ones) from me. The rest of the drops brought the same squeals
from Mia and hysterical laughter from me. Next stop was Rock n
roller coaster. While standing in line Mia is shivering with
delighted anticipation for the ride when she says " Look Pa
those are the cool cars we are going to ride, It will be
fun, You will be alright". I looked at the cars, then in
a literal blink of the eye - They were gone, shot in to the
darkness like a rocket.
I knew I had to man up for
this one because I promised the birthday Girl that Pa would
ride this one with her.
The had come and once we
were strapped in and in line for take off, Mia pats my hand to
tell me I will be alright. The S.O.B. takes off like a Bat out
of Hades into the dark I think. Because I closed my eyes and
screamed a string of obscenities. After the 1st twist all I
could do is hang on and hope for an early death. After what
seemed like a 4 day ride we dismounted from the ride from
hell, I was green and sweaty. I did not feel right for over an
hour after that, Carolyn and Jessie both kept looking at me
wondering if I was having the big one.
Bottom Line - I have no
problem running in and out of traffic at over 100 mph with
lights and sirens in rush hour traffic, however there is no
ways in Hell anyone will ever get me on that damn roller
coaster again.
